We have scratchy things all over the house, one is even right next ot the sofa. We've tried cutting his nails, we've made loud noises when he does it. We've used tape. Nothing works but at this point the furniture we bought is ruined so who cares but I wish I'd figured out a solution before. Our cat aurora uses the scratchy things and never touches the sofa, so weird.
