Poppy
This is our second cat, Poppy. Not quite sure what breed she is is, we know she is a mix. She came from a litter that was adopted by a family; her mother abandoned the entire litter. When we went to the shelter to adopt another for our family we were very confused on who to introduce to our first cat, Missy. We spent hours in the shelter playing with each kitten, and we noticed that each time we spent with one cat Poppy would come over and howl at us. Yes, howl. Needless to say, she was our pick.
Poppy is peculiar, she runs around the house hunting for flies, has a howl-gurgle rather than a meow, and she constantly is batting at our first and larger cat Missy. She loves coffee, donuts and the milk left over from cereal (we try and keep her away from that stuff, but cats are cats.) Unlike our first cat that will jump on the counter in the kitchen for food, Poppy is scared to because of our turtles – she is very, very scared of turtles. She loves the sound of running water and will sit in the bathroom while people shower. The cutest thing of all, when we leave the house Poppy is known to cry out for us by the door until we get home. She is a great addition to our family. We <3 Poppy.

Runner-Ups

Missy
This is Missy, our first adopted cat. We adopted her when she was 2-years old, she is a Maine Coon mix. When we first brought her home we noticed she was distant and did not want attention from anyone in the house. This lead us to assume she was from a a home where no one was around much. It took her to open up, but since then she is best lap cat, and laptop cat.
While working she will come up and lay down on the keyboard or laptop and beg for attention, quite the change from when we first got her. She loves to watch tv with us and has her own little spot on top of a dresser very close for her viewing. Her favorite spot in the house is either in the window watching birds or in front of the patio in the sun. Missy isn’t like our second adopted cat Poppy, she watches her diet, but she does *love* cheez-its.
She is my personal princess of the house for how deep she purrs and how she loves to cuddle in the mornings (she plops down in front of us and most times wakes us up with how deep her purrs are.) She doesn’t have the temperament for our more playful Poppy and has been know to bark instead of hiss. The reason I went and adopted Missy was because I wanted to be able to show something unconditional love, it’s an arrangement that has gone both ways.

Thank you to everyone who participated!
Mika sure is cute, and Coco has a beautiful face!! xx
I am fascinated by the appeal of a keyboard for a cat. Is it the warmth the keyboard gives off? The stimulation of the uneven surface of the keys? The knowing of where exactly to be to get 100% of your attention?
I know, right? Mo, my middle kitty, has found his new home sprawled out between my monitor and keyboard. Either he likes the warmth, flat laying space, attention, or all of the above.
Missy is a really fine cat…
So, you are happy people – so much cats and dogs, who receiveing your love.
