Charles Bukowski Junior (Bucky)

From the very beginning we knew Bucky was a special little guy. He was abandoned at four weeks behind a PetCo and brought into our clinic by a caring employee. After surviving an endoscopy and pneumonia he came home with me and grew like an adorable weed in spite of developing asthma at four months old and being stuffed into little sweaters for photos with Santa.

One of his favorite pastimes was playing fetch with a little green foam soccer ball – if you wouldn’t throw it for him, he’d crawl up on top of the recliner and throw it for himself. This photo is of him having a rest after a long, hard day’s lounging.

He was diagnosed with FIP when he was almost a year old and passed away last summer but no one who ever met him will ever forget him. :D

Lonely Boy

Lonely Boy

Lonely Boy isn’t my cat. Alas, poor Lonely Boy is nobody’s cat.

He arrived in my yard for the first time in mid August. About a month ago. So friendly that I was certain he must belong to someone. However, since he has shown up twice every day, ravenous, I’m thinking the boy is on his own.

After a couple of weeks he showed up trailing a very small, quite feral, black kitten. He and the kitten will feed together out of the same saucer. The only time Lonely Boy asserts himself with the kitten is when the kitten gets between him and me. But mostly he is very tolerant, even generous.

I’d adopt Lonely Boy myself But I already have a cat, Angel.

Angel despises Lonely Boy. His presence, just in the yard, causes her to sulk. She feigns disinterest in her own food while lunging for any dish headed for the deck. She is intolerant and selfish.

But I love Angel and so Lonely Boy has to stay in the yard. I’m building him and the black kitten a shelter for the winter. Also I am looking for a home for Lonely Boy. He is very young and full of energy. He has a soft voice and loves being stroked. He is not neutered. He is growing up wild but he could be a very nice pet for someone.

Sproeteke

This is Sproeteke, which means something like ‘little freckle’. She’s an 8-year-old Dutch lady who chose me when I was at an animal shelter in June 2006 by immediately pushing her beautiful face to my hand. First we lived somewhere above a shop, but after a year I decided to give her a bigger house with a nice garden, which she loves very much.

I found out Sproeteke just can’t stop eating. In our first month together she gained almost 3 pounds, so I had to put her on diet. I still have to make sure there is no food left anywhere when I’m leaving, because she wants it all!

As I always tell her she’s the most beautiful cat in the world, she developed a bit of an attitude. When another cat shows up, she runs to it with a loud ’sssshhhhh!’ and if that cat doesn’t go away, she starts a real catfight.

But to people she’s just adorable. She’s my best friend forever and if it was possible to marry a cat, I’d surely marry her right now. :)
