Biggie Smalls

Biggie Smalls

I adopted a very kind human in April 2008. I’ll be 5 years old in 2010.

Even though I don’t much like being carried around, I’m super friendly. I love chatting with humans or with myself, taking over my female human’s pillows (although there is one apparently special one she diligently manages to keep away from me), and bolting around the house for no particular reason.

I dislike “Human food”, strong odors like nail polish, and the ringing doorbell which makes me hide under the bed.

I must say my cutest habit is I speak with many different meows and squeaks. I answer my own questions. Sometimes I talk to the lovebird when it’s chirping. I also make a lot of facial expressions and wag my tail like a dog.

I’m naughty when I’m caught chasing this other cat that lives here. She’s so snooty! My motto is: Who says laziness is a bad thing?

Fiero

Fiero is a VERY vocal Siamese who gets into praying mode with the Jewish High Holidays approaching. After that, he’ll fall back asleep, with instructions to wake him on Hanukkah – or whenever Mommy gets home.

Patches

I spotted Patches at the local animal shelter. She was only about 7 weeks and her mother and family had been killed. I knew I had to have her. I wound up adopting 2 cats from the shelter that day and the older one became the mother figure to Patches.

This was 17 years ago. Patches passed away at home on November 25, 2008 a month after her mother figure, Tiger, passed on. Patches was scared of everything. It’s probably silly to say but we shared a bond. I stayed up with her all night as she was going through her phases of death. I left the room for an hour and fell asleep. It was within that hour that she left this world. I was awoken by her last loud meow. I still miss her and think of her often.

Poppy

Sisters Poppy & Sparkles came from a rescue home, they were very young (with their brother who was homed elsewhere). Poppy was extremely head shy & would not let you get near her. When we got them home (to meet our other rescue who we brought home a week earlier from the same centre) everyone got along great.

My partner accidently lifted a magazine a bit high, and kittens scattered everywhere! We deduced they came from a place where someone maybe hit them with a paper or magazine. After much time, Poppy started to have ‘Soppy Poppy’ sessions where after spending all day entertained by our pond, she’d feel happy & affectionate and actually let you have a little stroke, not too much though, and just enough to make you feel priviledged.

You have to make sure your hand still doesn’t go right over her head though, even now! She goes all huge eyed & scared looking. Today she lets us brush her, & rubs up at tea time. She loves to spend 100% most awake time by the pond & quite often , is IN it, in the shallows watching the fish. She’s a peculiarly odd, very sweet & utterly beautiful little kitty with a silken coat & gorgeous eyes. We love her very much. She feels safe here.
