ExquisiCat Scoop Clumping Litter

With multiple cats I am always looking for the best litter to balance the necessary functions I need for a cat litter.

After trials and tribulations of almost every cat litter in my county, I have settled on a favorite! Petsmart has their own brand of litter called ExquisiCat. The box I choose is 40 pounds and only twelve dollars!

First in litter, I look for clumping; any liquid should be completely absorbed and stay together. This litter clumps very well and stays compacted even when being moved, there is no crumbling or mush of litter.

Next I look for a small size in each granule; the larger pieces get stuck between my cats’ paws. The granules seem to be a perfect size consistently and is not rough on my cats’ paws or my litter scoop.

When it comes to smell, the ExquisiCat line has scented, non-scented or baking soda preferences. I choose the baking soda because the soda absorbs any odors and leaves a fresh clean scent in my house. In fact, the box reads “Odor neutralizing with baking soda” and “fresh scent with baking soda.”

Another important factor is the chalky residue that accompanies cat litter. This litter does not have any clouds appear when scooping, scratching or pouring into the litter box. At the very bottom of the container, there is crumbles of litter, but the slight amount is incomparable and never dusts around the boxes as some litters do.

The litter comes in a cardboard box which is easy to recycle. There are handles on the side for easy carrying. The box is durable for the 40 pounds of litter and I have never had one break on me.

To access the litter, you open the box on top and break a glue seal. Although the box is not resealable from air, you can open and close the top with ease. My cats stand on the box and it doesn’t collapse, even when empty.

This particular litter may be comparable to other brands, however it is the best litter I have found for the amount and price. Petsmart stores are all over the country and even offer help loading your car if the litter is too heavy.

ExquisiCat litter comes in all sizes, either a box or bag, but my favorite is the boxed Scoop with baking soda. I have used it with my multiple cats for months and plan to continue!

I wholeheartedly agree with Nikki. Equisicat scoop litter is affordable and works well. I have used it in my cattery with great results. We put the scoop litter at the bottom of the pans and regular litter at the top. Another excellent scoop litter is Arm and Hammer Super Scoop Litter.

    Hi Nikki,

I also have to agree with you about the Exuisicat Litter. I found it by accident while shopping at Petsmart. I have actually found that it works better than alot of named-brand litters. I too have 6 rescued cats. They are a great joy to me and my husband, and with the amount of food they eat and the umm err waste deposits, it can get quite costly. Exuisicat Litter has saved the day for me and my family. Now i just wished they would come out with some healthy food that does not cost an arm and a leg!

  3. I completely agree with this review. I used TidyCats Scoop for about a decade, but they changed the formula a few years ago. I had a brief stint with a couple other brands including Arm and Hammer, but after a friend's recommendation I tried ExquisiCat, and have been using it for the past three years. No tracking, no odours, and no problems with a litter box used by THREE cats in my kitchen. Very impressed indeed!

How on earth can you say there is no dust? That is completely untrue! In fact, that is the worst part about this litter. Otherwise it is perfect. But this litter is so dusty it spreads all over the house. My vacuum cleaner is always filled with the stuff.

I have 10 rescue cats, and with the cost of gas rising, so does cat food and litter. I thought I would try this new product because it came in a 40pound package. I loved it, and I will purchase it from now on. With prices as high as they for to cat upkeep, it is sure helpful to have ExquisiCat. I was a purchaser of Arm and Hammer cat litter for years, and have even been duped by other cat littler brand advertisements that give you the impression that there are 30 pounds of litter, but in the small print it says "fill like 30 pounds." ExquisiCat's label states what it is. I love the smell, and the cats like it too. Now some of them "don't think outside the box."

I don't know how you can say there is no dust!!  Good grief!  This litter is the WORST.  The dust is so bad it looks like a huge lingering cloud.  I wouldn't want to have to breathe this stuff and I certainly wasn't going to let my cats be forced to. I threw the rest of the container out as well as emptied what I had just poured into the box and hauled it to the trash.
I always appreciate reviews but I really, really wish people would be honest.  This is a horrible product and one I would never buy again.

Hello, My name is Greg Csak me and my wife run a small non-profit animal rescue called PetResque in Lorain county Ohio . We currently have 22 cats 5 dogs and 2 ferrets . I go thru 200 pounds of cat litter a month . I use your cat litter and have recently noticed a price hike of 3 to 4 dollars a 28 lb box , and what got me motivated to write you is that i have recently took on a TNR project in my county in conjunction with our local APL of a ferrel cat colony of 50 to 75 cats and cant believe in this economy that the prices of pet supplies does not contribute to these type of colonies people cant afford to keep their pets. A little relief in the prices or even some coupons may help people keep there pets. I would hope being in the pet supply buisness that you would have some compassion for animals and would help be part of the solution not part of the problem.

Completely DUST!  I purchased several boxes and it is the dustiest litter I have ever used!  It is so bad that my eyeglasses get coated AND believe it or not, my nose hairs get coated with it!  Imagine what it does to little cat noses!  I will never buy this junk again.

  9. Betty says:

My only fault with Exquisicat litter is that it is advertised as 99.9% dust free. This is really a false advertisement. After using less than a box of this litter I could write my name on the furniture in the room with the liter box. When cleaning the liter with the sun shining into the room you can see clouds of dust. So this is really false advertising on the box.

Betty I am having the same problem with the litter i'm currently using. I started to use SWheat Scoop but changed my mind. My pest guy said I could get bugs and the feild mice might find it tasty. Iam at my wits end trying to find something that doesn't have soooooooooo much dust. Did you find something you like?????

  10. Fred Farris says:

We have used ExquisiCat litter for several years. Lately the dust has been bad. If the new box does not seem better we will change.

  11. susan says:

I've used this product for many years…it has been perfect…until maybe six months or so ago when it became so dusty! Seems that the box originally mentioned that it had a low dust content…can't find that on the box any longer…and it is DUSTY! Yikes, now what do I do.

  12. Fred Farris says:

I agree with Betty from 9 weeks ago. Very dusty.

  13. Alison says:

I have also noticed a change in the last few months/boxes. So much more dust than it used to have. Unfortunately, one of my two cats will only use Exquisicat. I’m hoping Petsmart goes back to the old formula.

  14. deirdra says:

This was a great product back when this review was written, but since Fall 2011 it has become the DUSTIEST CAT LITTER ON THE PLANET! Worse than walmart's cheap brand. Do not waste your money on it.
